The technology is developed over many years of efforts by Mr Rohit Khaitan, who holds the patents. The ethanol production patent establishes economically viable cellulose to sugars to 2nd generation bioethanol technology. The technology has undergone various levels of development, testing and rigorous application levels. The pilot plant is set up in collaboration with BIRAC as a project titled "Cellulosic Ethanol Pilot Plant for Rice Straw Management", successfully validated in 2021. The technology is highly efficient and unique as it fully utilises all the components of lignocellulosic material to produce high-value products or generate green energy, this establishes a breakthrough in lignin valorization, that remained elusive this far. Rice straw (or paddy straw) is the most abundantly produced agricultural waste without any mass scale commercial use. Our technology solves this long pending problem which due to open field burning is a significant environmental hazard.
